Students from various schools talk about what Songschool is and discuss their experiences and impressions of the workshop.

“Nothing could ever compare to this week.”

“Collaborating with people I expected to have little in common with was a mind opening experience.”

“The week was wicked. You really made the workshops more enjoyable by the friendly atmosphere.”

“Thank you so much for the best two days in TY!.”

Secondary School Teachers

“The students, after a Songschool workshop, are so pleased with themselves, they have big grins and can’t wait to hear the song THEY wrote, performed and recorded.  Songschool isn’t just about writing a song, it’s also about exposing the students to each other’s talents, teamwork, co-operation, patience and having a voice and being heard.”

Sonya Cummins-TY Co-ordinator, Gormanston College

"Songschool has been coming to our school for over 15 years. It has become a significant part in our TY programme. Peter and his team are highly progressional in their approach. The workshops give students an opportunity to explore hidden talents and use existing talents.

It also provides the chance for students To engage in team building and team work which are vital life skills.

If Lionel Messi is the first name down on the Barcelona team list. Songschool is the first activity put down on our TY programme."

Ciaran O Murchú , TY Co-ordinator, Colaiste Iosagain

"Such a great experience!

Excellent songwriting and recording workshops given by fun, friendly and encouraging tutors. A highlight every year for our transition year students. I cannot recommend it highly enough!"

Niele Byrne, Music Teacher , Coláiste Éamonn Rís, Wexford

"We have been delighted to have Createschool come in to Blackrock College and run Songschool Workshops for our Transition Year students over the past number of years.  The boys get a great kick out of writing their own songs and its always exciting to hear them perform their compositions for each other at the end of the day!  Last year, Createschool also ran the Movie Maker Workshop where the boys wrote, directed, acted in and recorded movie trailers.  It’s a great experience for them to actively learn about the different element involved in making a movie!"

Killian Grumley Traynor, Music TeacherBlackrock College

"Createschool have been working with our Transition year students over the past five or six years. CreateSchool have developed a framework from which our Transition Year students have developed key skills in all aspects of movie making as well making documentaries with respect to developmental education.

As a result Createschool have been instrumental in developing leadership, communication, teamwork and organisational skills together with helping to nurture personal autonomy and creativity in every student they have worked with, thusin keeping with the ethos of the Transition Year programme."

Nigel Flegg Head of Education, Community and Outreach at The National Concert Hall, Dublin talks about why the NCH choose Songschool.

'We have had Createschool in our school over the past number of years and we have always found them very professional and creative. They have always taken our student’s ideas and worked with them to create imaginative and innovative films. All of their workshops are fun to participate in while students also learn how to use the most up to date equipment and technologies. They have stimulated our students to create films of their own and in some cases to pursue a career in the area.

Createschool are punctual and thorough and are a pleasure to deal with. I would have no hesitation in recommending them'.

Seamus Peppard,  TY Co Ordinator, St.Patrick's Classical School Navan.

"For many years, Songschool have been part of our Transition Year Programme, coming in to facilitate a song-writing and performance workshop with our students. I cannot fault the professionalism, friendliness, and efficiency of the Songschool team- they really are a pleasure to deal with and one of the easiest workshops to organise. The students consistently rate the workshops amongst their highlights of TY, and we use the performance section each year as a sampler to promote TY to our Third Years. The beauty of this workshop is that it appeals to students of all ability levels-the Songschool team know exactly how much assistance to give, and when to step back in order to let each student get the most from the day. I would (and consistently do) whole-heartedly recommend Songschool to all TY co-ordinators and Programme Planners."

Primary School Teachers

"We had the great pleasure of welcoming Createschool to St. Peter's Primary in the spring of 2016. As a teacher, I was thrilled with how professional, warm and fun Peter was. He immediately drew the students into the world of creativity in which he so passionately lives, and delivered an incredibly engaging workshop. We had the huge honour of viewing some sets, playing with unique LEGO and understanding the detail and patience his work requires. It was a perfect blend of hands-on learning and expert teaching. It was such a unique session, as our students had little understanding on the formal process of film making.

Many of our students are already passionate about stop motion animation, and a special effort was made to showcase their interest and talent.

I would 100% recommend engagement with Createschool and look forward to working with them again."

Ciara Brennan - Teacher, St. Peter's Primary, Bray, Co Wicklow

“I believe the Songschool workshops will be one of the few memories that children will recall in years to come as they reminisce on their school days.”
